Choir
As many parents would now know our fantastic Choir has continued their astounding record of success and have won the Yarram Eisteddfod against very strong competition. This is now a string of seven consecutive eisteddfod wins!! Ellyn, Candice and Cheryl had hoped that we would do well but had not anticipated another win against such a strong field of contenders. Even on the day, as the choir watched all the other schools perform (we were the last of nine) they felt that the standard was very high indeed and winning the event was probably beyond our reach.
However they performed beautifully and impressed the judges who announced KPS as the winner for 2009. The choir sang two songs, firstly ‘Make your Own Kind of Music' (A) followed by ‘You Raise Me Up'.(B)
I quote now from the Adjudicators Award Sheet.
"(A).A beautifully presented choir. Your sustained notes and harmonies moved me. You sang rhythmically and
melodiously and this was simply gorgeous.
(B) Your standard got even higher here. The wonderful choice of this melodious song allowed your voices to flow smoothly (legato). I was moved to tears!!"
Congratulations to the choir once again. An outstanding achievement!
Thanks to Ellyn Zizic for her continued excellent work and organization, to Candice Huntly for her marvellous support and also to our accompanist Cheryl who gives our school magnificent support in all of our musical events. Finally thanks to the parents who travelled down to Yarram to also support our Choir. I know the students appreciated it.
